A Real Estate Assistant Can Help You Find Balance

Thursday, September 20th, 2007

Have you ever visited one of those touristy places and seen someone impressing the crowd with their talent for balancing on a ball while juggling swords? It’s an impressive sight to see; it’s also something that’s easy for a lot of real estate pros to look at and say “I could do that, maybe not the ball thing, but that’s how my days feel.”

Take a look at your day:

  • You’ve got phones to answer and properties to show.
  • You’ve got a website to design and listing presentations to prepare to attract new sellers.
  • You’ve got buyers who keep changing their minds and sellers who wonder why you think they should take their kids’ artwork off of the refrigerator
  • You’ve got new listings to add to the MLS and canceled open houses.
  • You’ve got emails to answer, blog posts to write and neighborhoods to research.

Just thinking about it all can make you feel off balance – especially if you’re trying to do it all on your own.

How much easier would it be for you to manage your day if you had a real estate assistant on your side? Here are a few thoughts:

  • You could be out showing properties while your real estate assistant answered the phones – and the caller’s questions.
  • Your real estate assistant could tackle creating and updating your website, listing presentations and even listing coordination to make it easier for you to work with all of your sellers.
  • Your real estate assistant could work with you to design home buying questionnaires to help your buyers figure out what they really want and need in a home as well as home staging tip sheets so that your buyers would better understand how to show their home at its best
  • You could stop worrying about listing coordination if your real estate assistant took it on.
  • You wouldn’t have to force yourself to be web savvy if you had the right real estate assistant; you could be out working with clients one on one and still know that everything would be done.

You have enough challenges in a day without trying to balance a crazy schedule. Why not take advantage of working with someone else who can help you to accomplish all of your goals?

A Real Estate Assistant Understands the Way You Work

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

Real estate agents are unlike other groups of workers. They have unpredictable schedules, a lot of competition – including competition from home owners who want to go it alone. There’s marketing online and in print, and a number of other challenges.

Not everyone gets the way that real estate agents work. Not everyone understands what it takes to run a real estate business. A real estate assistant, on the other hand, not only gets it but she can help you to ramp up your business and to make it run even more smoothly.

With the right real estate assistant, all the paperwork can be taken care of. With the right person by your side, your buyers and sellers will all know just how much you care and how much you have to offer them. When you’ve got the right teammate, all of the challenges that you face seem a lot more manageable.

When your business is growing, you’re likely to find that the way you’ve worked in the past isn’t enough to keep up with the pace; when you bring on a real estate assistant, however, you’ll find that business as usual can be business as usual. And the best part is that if you do your best work alone, you can choose a real estate assistant who works virtually – someone who won’t cramp your space or your style.

What Can Your Real Estate Assistant Do to Market Your Business?

Tuesday, September 18th, 2007

There are plenty of great reasons to work with a real estate assistant. You’ll know that your clients always have someone to talk with. You’ll know that you’re able to provide your clients with tips and tools to help them whether they’re buying or selling a home.

But are you aware of all that your real estate assistant could do to market your business?

  • Your real estate assistant can market your business online. Article marketing, websites, blog marketing, email campaigns and even regionally targeted pay per click campaigns can boost the number of leads that you get online.
  • Your real estate assistant can work with you to market your listings. Want to be sure that all of the information about the properties you’re representing is up to date? Leave it in the capable hands of your real estate assistant.
  • How much print marketing do you do with Just Listed or Just Sold postcards? If you’d like to do more, leave it to your real estate assistant who can design those cards- as well as other direct mail materials that can get the word out about the services you provide.
  • Looking to create eye catching print advertisements for use in local newspapers or phonebooks but don’t quite know how to go about it? If you’ve got the right real estate assistant for the job, those ads will be there for you – all you have to do is ask.

From helping you to bring on additional clients to working with you to treat your current buyers so well that their referrals will pour in, the right real estate assistant makes all the difference.

How Do You Hire a Real Estate Assistant?

Monday, September 17th, 2007

The more that you read about hiring a real estate assistant, the more you’ve probably started thinking, “that sounds pretty good.” After all, with a real estate assistant, you can be sure that your administrative needs are taken care of, your clients have someone to talk with, your website is updated and you have access to someone who can help you to meet all of your obligations.

But how do you go about hiring a real estate assistant? There are a few different ways of going about it. If you want someone who will work in your office, consider placing a help wanted ad. If you’re looking for someone who can work virtually, you’ll be able to do a bit of research online, send an email or place a call.

Before you do either, however, you’ll find that it’s a good idea to make a list of what you will expect from your real estate assistant. By identifying what you expect from a real estate assistant – whether it’s someone who will work in your office or virtually – you’ll be better able to find someone who will be able to meet your needs and fill the position. Another good thing to do is to make a list of questions you want to ask – that way you can be sure that you get the answers you need.

Take the time to talk, get to know someone and see whether or not you’ve found the right fit – hiring a real estate assistant really is as simple as that.

Your Real Estate Assistant and a Drip Email Campaign Can Bring You More Clients

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

Email marketing has become a key to success in many business fields – real estate is no exception. The key to a great email marketing campaign is simple: using drip email.

What is drip email? The simplest explanation is that it’s a way of setting up a mail program and autoresponder so that messages are sent out at specified intervals. When someone signs up for your mailing list on your website, they will automatically start receiving messages – and you won’t be manually sending out the messages.

Of course, your real estate assistant’s role isn’t to send out all of the messages for you. Instead, your real estate assistant will be there to set up the autoresponder, create the email messages and set the intervals at which they’ll go out.

If you’ve never used a drip email campaign to gather leads and bring in new clients, you shouldn’t wait to start. If you haven’t had great luck with them in the past, a real estate assistant can work with you to create a more successful campaign – a drip email campaign that works.

Your Real Estate Assistant Can Help You Give Your Clients Something Extra

Saturday, September 15th, 2007

Real estate’s an interesting business. You help people buy and sell homes – places where families are raised and memories are created. As a real estate agent, you’ll find that, though you’re only working with someone for a short time, you have an important role in their lives.

What you’ll find, in time, is that the role you play – the relationships that you form – in their lives is the key to your success in real estate. The role you play, your relationships: they are the keys to your past clients referring their friends and family to you when people they knew need an agent.

But that doesn’t mean that you need to be the one who gives them a little bit extra. When you’re working with the right real estate assistant, you’ll find that building relationships with your clients is easier than you’d thought it could be.

Want to give sellers something extra? Provide them with home staging tips, sellers tips and advice for finding their new home – even if it’s in another area. Want to give your buyers something extra? Consider taking a photo of them in front of their home and let your real estate assistant create postcards or notecards that they can use to let their friends and family know that they’ve moved.

It’s the little extras that you give your clients that will strengthen your relationships with them – just like it’s the little extras that you remember, the little things that come up in your personal relationships that create lasting memories for you. Let your real estate assistant take control of providing those little extras and you can be sure that your clients will remember you.

Let Your Real Estate Assistant Create Virtual Tours

Friday, September 14th, 2007

If a picture is worth a thousand words, what does a series of pictures say? When is a photo far more than just a photo? When can you take a still photo and turn it into a moving marketing tool that helps prospective buyers to better see themselves inside a property that you’re selling?

In each case, the answer is probably a bit simpler than you might think.

A single photo of a property can give buyers a snapshot glance – a dining table frozen in time; a series of photo can show a glimpse of the same dining table in relation to the kitchen and the ease of reaching it when the photos are used together in a simple slideshow or as a part of a virtual tour.

A photo is far more than just a photo when it’s used to create something greater – a moving picture, a part of a montage.

And the best news – the answer that you’ve been waiting for the most – is that you can take a series of still photos and turn them into a cutting edge marketing tool for the properties you represent by working with a real estate assistant who has the tools to create virtual tours.

When your real estate assistant is able to use property photos and edit them into a virtual tour, you’ll find that more prospective buyers develop an interest in the property. You’ll also find that the sellers you’re working with see that you’re doing more to market their property. It’s win-win!

Why Choose a Virtual Real Estate Assistant?

Thursday, September 13th, 2007

Different people have different needs.

When you work in real estate, you know that’s true. You’ve got clients who need to sell a home, clients who need to find a place that’s under $150,000, clients who need their home to be in a great school system or for whom multiple sinks in the bathroom vanity is a deal breaker.

But you also know that it’s true just for your own business. You may need a real estate assistant who can be in the office and work on listing coordination two or three days a week. You may need someone who can answer your calls and emails on a regular basis. And, you just might find that you also need your space.

Maybe you work from a home office and don’t have enough space for another employee. That doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t get the help that you need; it just means you need to look at other options like working with a real estate virtual assistant. Maybe you only have a one time project – like creating a website or a sellers’ tip sheet – and you think it would be great to have someone to create it for you; hiring a real estate assistant who works virtually – from her own office – gives you the chance to bring someone on who can get the work done but without making you feel obligated to find more work for her to do.

The best reason for hiring a virtual real estate assistant, however, is that you’ll know that you’re only paying for the time he or she is actively working for your company – not lunch breaks, taxes, or the time he or she spends just doing something else. And, as an added bonus, you’ll find that you know the job will be done right the first time, almost as if you’d done it yourself.

Having a Real Estate Assistant Frees Up Your Time

Wednesday, September 12th, 2007

One of the biggest bits of hype in business news over the past few months has been the suggestion made in a book about a four hour work week. The idea is that if you do what you love and commit to it passionately, you can accomplish as much in 4 hours as most people do in 40, 60 or 80 hours: the key is having the right people there to support you.

Now, that’s not to say that hiring just any assistant is the right plan: it’s best to hire a professional who knows the ins and outs of your business. That’s why, when your business is real estate, it’s important to hire a real estate assistant – whether you bring on someone who works out of your office or someone who works virtually.

When you’ve made a commitment to working hard and growing your business, you’ll find that just giving it four hours isn’t enough. When your business is real estate, you’ll enjoy talking to people, you’ll enjoy helping buyers and sellers, you’ll enjoy holding an open house each weekend. But you’ll also need to make sure that you have the time to do those things.

That’s where your real estate assistant comes in. She can answer your calls or emails. She can keep track of your listings, create marketing materials or prepare reports for your sellers to make sure they understand what you’re doing for them.

In other words, your real estate assistant can keep things running smoothly in the office or take on the tasks that you just don’t enjoy quite as much. And as a result, you’ll have the time you need to run your business more efficiently.

A Real Estate Assistant Can Help Think of Ways to Grow Your Business

Tuesday, September 11th, 2007

How much time do you devote to looking at ways to grow your real estate business?

Most successful real estate agents don’t just get out there and help buyers and sellers; they set goals and, even before they fully achieve them, focus on the next steps, the next goals and the big picture.

The problem that many agents face when they’re just getting started is that they’re focused on getting a few great listings. They’re focused on learning the skills that they need to really connect with buyers and sellers – focused on creating great relationships and getting referrals.

As their businesses begin to grow, they focus on helping sellers sell and helping buyers buy. They get busy and, while the goals are there, they have less time to focus on achieving them.

At that point, there’s a divide: this is when great agents are made. Those who still focus on their goals – both achieving them and reaching them – go on to be top producers and become the best in their areas. Those who put all of their energy into keeping up tend to do well, but to never really get past where they are.

So where do you want to be?

If you want to be at the top of your field, the first thing that you need to do is to take some of the pressure off, and the best way to do that is to find a great real estate assistant who can work with you. Your real estate assistant can help you with day to day tasks, but she can also work with you to figure out what your goals are and to help you work towards achieving them.

When you have a real estate assistant who can partner with you, you’ll find that you’re able to be out there helping buyers and sellers, forming relationships. But you’ll also find that you’re able to focus on the big picture. And, in the meantime, you’ll have someone one hand who can help you brainstorm and even make suggestions that will help you to reach your goals even faster.
