Hiring a Real Estate Assistant for a One Time Project

Sunday, October 21st, 2007

Real estate is just like any business: there are going to be those projects that need to be done but that somehow you never get to. For some, it’s about creating a new logo – something that will set them apart from the other agents in their area. For others, it has a lot to do with developing an internet marketing plan or designing a great website even though they don’t have a full grasp on using that technology.

These one time projects – large or small – don’t need to go undone. Regardless of the project, you don’t need to make the time to do the research and fit in the project: real estate assistants can be brought on to do one time projects as well as to help you to reach your longer term goals.

In other words, when you bring on a real estate assistant, you don’t have to worry about forming long term relationships: someone who is there to help you complete one project doesn’t have to keep coming into the office each and every day even after the project is over.

Of course, that doesn’t mean that if you find that working with a real estate assistant helps you to achieve your goals you can’t change your mind. If the one time project goes well, you just might decide that a lasting relationship is good for you, your business and your clients.

A Real Estate Assistant Can Offer Many Different Services

Saturday, October 20th, 2007

Real estate professionals are always looking for different things. For some, it’s all about bringing on new sellers and adding properties to the market. For others, nothing beats the satisfaction of helping buyers to find the homes of their dreams.

Others still are looking for better ways of being there for their clients – someone who can be there to answer the phones when they’re out in the field showing homes or meeting with clients. Still others are looking for an easy way to stay on top of emails and website updates, or tools for designing better postcards or better marketing flyers.

Whatever services you are looking for to enhance your real estate business, a real estate assistant can be there to provide them.

Need help with listing coordination? You’ll be able to find a real estate assistant who can update the information and stay on top of the process. Need help with getting the phones answered? A real estate assistant – even one who works virtually – can be there to answer your calls, provide answers and make sure that the callers who need your help are able to get it.

From creating print marketing to marketing your business online, from creating virtual home tours to offering home staging tips, a real estate assistant can be the key to your getting it all done.

A Real Estate Assistant Can Help You Get Listings

Friday, October 19th, 2007

When you’re out in the field showing properties and you’re in the office talking to clients, there’s only going to be so much time that you can spend bringing on new listings. The problem is that if you’re not able to keep bringing on new buyers and sellers, you’re likely to find that – at some point – business starts to dry up a bit.

You need to be able to be sure that you’ve got a great listing presentation, but if you don’t have the time to create one what are you going to do? Are you going to just sit back and wait until you don’t have the clients so that you can design a presentation of your own?

Some might, but wouldn’t it be better to bring on a real estate assistant who can create great listing presentations for you?

A real estate assistant can do more than just create a general listing presentation; she can work with you to design presentations that cater to the services that you offer, the neighborhoods where you make sales and the types of homes that you specialize in – whether they’re condos, luxury homes or anything in between.

As a result, you can be sure that you’ve got more sellers coming in – and you can be sure that they’ll see just how much you’re able to do for them.

Why Hire a Real Estate Assistant to Design Your Website?

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

There are some basic keys to advertising your services as a real estate agent. You can use traditional print marketing – placing ads in the local Yellow Pages and in your area’s newspaper. You can use direct marketing techniques – postcards and other promotional materials sent through the mail – as well as making calls to those who have a For Sale by Owner sign on their front lawn.

However, if you’re really looking to make your real estate business everything it can be, there’s something more that you’re going to need to do: you’re going to need to have a great website.

Designing a website, however, isn’t something to just jump into. From optimizing the site for search engines to creating the content that buyers and sellers are looking for, designing and organizing a website isn’t something that you can just jump into.

That’s a good reason to hire a real estate assistant to design and organize your website for you. When you work with a real estate assistant, you can be sure that you’re marketing your real estate business effectively.

Why spend the time designing a website that isn’t going to do as much for you as it could when you could bring on a real estate assistant who could design (and maintain) a great site for you?

Even a Real Estate Assistant Who Works from Afar Can Have a Local Phone Number

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

Have you thought about hiring a real estate assistant who can answer the calls that come into you office? If so, what’s holding you back?

For some real estate offices, the drawback to hiring a real estate assistant is that they don’t have the space to bring another staff member into the office. For others, when they start thinking about hiring a real estate virtual assistant is a concern that they won’t be able to have their clients call a local number.

One of the greatest things that’s come up in the past few years involves decisions that let phone customers take numbers with them; another is the ability to have phone lines that are VoIP – voice over internet. Thanks to these services, even if your real estate assistant works from an office in another state, he or she can have a local to you phone number.

Why struggle to get calls answered when you don’t have to? Why make the decision to overcrowd your office when the job can be done from afar?

There’s no reason why a real estate assistant can’t answer your calls – whether she works in your office or her own.

Should You Hire a Real Estate Assistant to Write Your Blog?

Tuesday, October 16th, 2007

Blogging is everywhere these days. Though some real estate agents may try to ignore it, convincing themselves that a blog is still something that’s just a sort of personal venting, you can’t afford to not have a blog for your real estate business.

Should you hire a real estate assistant to write your blog? That depends on a number of things:

  1. Do you have the time to commit to writing in a blog every day? First and foremost, if you don’t have the time to commit to writing a blog, you need to have someone who can write it for you.
  2. Do you understand the importance of blog marketing and article marketing for your real estate business? If you haven’t embraced internet marketing and think that having a website is enough, you’re quickly going to fall behind – and your competitors are going to get the leads that you need to grow your business. A real estate assistant who understands internet marketing is, in this case, invaluable.
  3. Do you market all of your listings online? If you’re not marketing the homes for sale in your area, there are going to be prospective buyers who never know the home is on the market. A real estate assistant can update your blog not only with info for buyers and sellers, but also with listings as they become available.

Obviously, there are more reasons why you might want a real estate assistant to take charge of blogging for your company, but these are key. You need to be marketing your business. You need to have someone who is committed to getting your listings out there. And you need to have someone who can get your web site crawled each and every day.

If you cannot do it yourself, you should look into bringing on a real estate assistant to get the job done.

Hire a Real Estate Assistant Who Shares Your Goals and Values

Monday, October 15th, 2007

When you’re getting ready to hire a real estate assistant – or a real estate virtual assistant - it’s important to look at your real estate business and at yourself.

What are your business goals – are you trying to grow? Why are you thinking about hiring a real estate assistant – is there a project you just never get to, or is it because your clients are always getting voice mail when they call?

Do you want someone who will come in and work from your office or are you comfortable working with someone who works from her own office as long as she is using the same products that you use within your business? How many hours per week do you want to have an assistant come in – do you need someone who will work for you full time or just for a few hours each week?

By taking a closer look at what you need from a real estate assistant and by looking at the goals you have for your business, you can be sure that you’re working with someone who will help you to reach them. By knowing that you have values like commitment, dedication, hard work, honesty and integrity, you can be sure that the person you are bringing on is someone who shares those values.

When you hire a real estate assistant who shares your goals and values, you can be sure that you’ll find someone who is more than just an employee, you’ll find someone who will be your partner in success.

Choose an Experienced Real Estate Assistant

Sunday, October 14th, 2007

There are two types of people: those who know how to do something and those that need to be taught. Learning is a good thing – we all learn new things each and every day. The problem is, when you’re working in real estate and you’re really busy, you want to hire a real estate assistant who can just jump in and go to double the amount of time that you have; you don’t want a real estate assistant who is unfamiliar with the process who you’ll have to train.

Sure, when you hire someone who is experienced, there is going to be a bit of a learning curve. The real estate assistant who you hire will need to get familiar with your approach so that she can do things your way. But think about it: if you have to start from scratch with someone, instead of everyday tasks taking less of your time, they are going to end up taking twice as much time.

That’s why it’s important, when you’re busy enough that a real estate assistant isn’t a luxury and is a necessity, you need to check the credentials of the person you’re going to hire. It’s a little step but it can make a huge difference.

A Real Estate Assistant Will Help You to Find Time for Yourself

Saturday, October 13th, 2007

Admit it: some days, you don’t know which end is up. You’re in the car on your way to show a home – already running a little late – when your smartphone simultaneously starts ringing and indicates that you’ve got new email; meanwhile, the hot sandwich that you picked up on the way because the only time you had to grab a bite to eat was while you were on the road is getting cold.

It’s a familiar scene for many real estate agents – though it can be overwhelming, it’s important to know this: you do not have to get through it alone.

With a real estate assistant on your side, you could find more time in your day – time for yourself.

If you had the right real estate assistant, you could be sure that your phones were being answered, your clients weren’t being put off, and your mobile would only be ringing if there were something that had to be dealt with immediately. If you had the right real estate assistant, you would be able to focus on the most important email messages that came through – general info requests could be answered for you.

In other words, with someone on your side, you would be able to limit the amount of muti-tasking that you had to do. You might not have time to stop for lunch, but you just might be able to eat the sandwich you picked up while it was hot.

A Real Estate Assistant Can Help to Establish Your Brand

Friday, October 12th, 2007

From copy shops to trucking companies, from fast food restaurants to pharmacies, businesses have to establish a brand identity. Why should your real estate business be any different?

A real estate assistant can work with you to brand your company – so that you have a recognizable logo and materials that will help to attract new clients.

For starters, your real estate assistant can work with you to design a great logo that you can use on your website, on your business cards, on the sign for your business and the lawn signs that your sellers display on their lawns.

Then it can be taken a step further: your real estate assistant can work with you to design pamphlets and other information for buyers and sellers that incorporate your logo and offer them something that they need. Work can also be done to make sure that all of your advertising materials – Just Listed and Just Sold postcards, newspaper ads – you name it.

Is your real estate business going to be as big as Starbucks? Probably not – unless you really set out to make that happen. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t take advantage of all of the benefits of establishing a recognizable brand. After all, brand loyalty counts for a lot when it comes to bringing in more clients – and for keeping your name on the mind of the clients you’ve helped in the past.
