Google Wave for Real Estate

Monday, November 9th, 2009

assistantforrealestate.com Google WaveGoogle recently sent out Google Wave invites to selected users and I was pleasently surprised to receive an invitation from Google to test the product.
My thoughts for how Google Wave will impact the real estate market and how real estate agents (REALTORS) can use the product to enhance their business.

1) Google Wave is going to be great for communicating with Sellers. If you started a Wave for a home for sale, you could invite the sellers, other agent, inspector, mortgage lender, title company and anyone else that would be involved in the transaction and the information would be displayed in real time. If the mortgage lender wanted to update everyone associated with the transaction all they would have to do is post it in the wave instead of e-mailing everyone.

2) Updating your real estate staff with projects and deadlines. If you started a Google Wave as soon as you started a new project you could update the office staff as you went along.

3) Real Estate Listings and Google Wave- Start a Wave for your new listing and upload the photos of the home along with the property information. You could invite the sellers to view their wave and show them all of the work that has been done on marketing their property. Add all of the links where the home owner could see their home marketed on the internet along with any virtual tour links or youtube videos of their home for sale.

4) Replace e-mail with Google Wave- We spend a lot of time e-mailing back and forth filed in real estate. Google wave could be a central location to store documents for files so anyone involved would have access to them without having to e-mail someone for the documents.

5) Create informational Waves- If you are a niche market real estate agent and have in-depth knowledge about a particular subject in real estate (let’s say foreclosures) you could start a Foreclosure wave and anyone who comes to you with questions about foreclosures could be invited to the wave. I think of it along the lines of an e-mail or down loadable guide, but instead it would be done in a wave.

How do you see Google Wave assisting real estate agents? Do you think it will enhance business?
